Be bold in the cold
Yes, it’s cold.
No, that doesn’t mean the fish aren’t biting, according to folks who work along the waterfront in Port Aransas.
“If people put enough time out on the rail (of a boat), they will catch fish,” said Gary Peschke at Dolphin Dock.
“The cold discourages the fishermen,” Peschke said, “but it doesn’t discourage the fish.”
At Deep Sea Headquarters, Mike Mitchell said a recent eight-hour jaunt offshore resulted in catches of a bunch of Atlantic sharpnose shark and kingfish.
Folks on bay trips have been catching a ton of gafftop, he said.
Anglers have been finding redfish while visiting the north jetty, said D.D. Shields at Fisherman’s Wharf.
