Port A Fishing Report - October 31, 2014

Last updated 3 years ago

It’s Halloween, but that’s not scaring the fish away.
Ling catches have been especially good offshore lately, according to at least one person who works along the Port Aransas waterfront.
“They’re very heavy right now,” said Jessica Gaskins at Woody’s Sports Center.
Folks sticking to the bays have been finding red and black drum, with some sheepshead here and there, Gaskins said.
At Dolphin Dock, Eric Peschke said a 12-hour trip offshore came back Wednesday with kingfish, dorado, vermilion snapper, Atlantic sharpnose shark and a grouper.
At Fisherman’s Wharf, Karen Leister said anglers heading offshore have been reeling in dorado, blackfin and yellowfin tuna, kingfish and Atlantic sharpnose shark.
Folks sticking to near-shore waters have been catching red and black drum, flounder, trout and sheepshead, she said.
Blake Wallingsford said some big jack crevalle have been seen at Horace Caldwell Pier. Wallingsford works at Keepers, a shop on the pier.
