Steady winds made fishing a little tough earlier this week, but it’s gotten calmer just in time for the weekend.
At Deep Sea Headquarters, Mike Mitchell said one lucky customer reeled in an 82-pound dorado during a 10-hour offshore trip a couple of days ago. Folks also were catching vermilion snapper, kingfish and Atlantic sharpnose shark, he said.

A recent eight-hour trip resulted in catches of kingfish and Atlantic sharpnose shark, Mitchell said.
Whiting and gafftop have been the rule during party boat excursions in the bays, he said.
Jim Higdon at Fisherman’s Wharf said recent offshore catches have included Atlantic sharpnose shark, kingfish and vermilion snapper.
Folks hitting the north jetty have been getting into redfish, he said.
At Woody’s Sports Center, Duane Foster said anglers have been finding redfish and black drum in the bays and speckled trout in the surf.
Folks at Dolphin’s Dock reported catches of kingfish, dorado, blackfin tuna, Atlantic sharpnose shark, vermilion snapper and grouper.
Bay trips have yielded whiting, gafftop, hardhead and trout, they said.
