Flounder continues to be the angler’s fish of choice right now in Port Aransas.
Look for them around the edges of the Corpus Christi Ship Channel at the Port Aransas Nature Preserve at Charlie’s Pasture.
“They’ve been gigging flounder out there at night,” said Art Purcell of Deep Sea Headquarters.
Purcell said folks also have been finding some redfish in the bays. But that’s about all Purcell had to report, because foul weather has been keeping offshore fishing trips to a minimum where he works and at other head boat businesses in Port Aransas. Recent icy conditions in San Antonio and points north have prevented many road trips.
At Fisherman’s Wharf, Bob Roberts said anglers coming back from the north jetty have been carrying trout, redfish and sheepshead with them.
“Most people have been staying in because of the weather, but the ones going out have been pulling in some fish,” Roberts said.
